The task of the Department of Social Initiatives will be undertaking actions for the sake of building dialogue, partnership, integration and cooperation between non-governmental establishments of local self-government and institutions acting in the sphere of education for democracy.
The department will also be initiating, supporting, and promoting programmes and projects falling into this scope, particularly those building and supporting the development of civic society through social participation and practical actions.
In order to fulfil these goals, a data bank will be created with information available on studies, innovative programmes, and entities dealing with children’s, the youth’s, and adults’ competence in functioning in a democratic society: knowledge, abilities, attitudes. Furthermore, the department will be monitoring and giving opinions on legal solutions and social programmes implemented at different levels of management with regard to the protection of human rights/children’s rights.
The department is headed by:
Pedagogue, social activist, educator in the management of education, author and implementer of projects and workshops for children, the youth, and teachers concerning cultural and intercultural education, upbringing through rights, and the child’s human rights. For many years an employee of the Minister of National Education (1998-2007), director of the Team for Social Matters and Administrative Law at the Child’s Ombudsman Office. Since 2011 she has held the function of the President of the Polish Janusz Korczak Association and Vice-President of the International Janusz Korczak Association (IKA). Since 2019 she has been a member of the Council of Treblinka Museum. The Nazi German Extermination and Labour Camp (1941 – 1944). She is active in the social movement Citizens for Education, where she serves the function of an expert.
